Bio
Hello Bobcats! My name is Jessica Hawk and I am the Early Intervention Program teacher at Bonaire Primary for 2nd grade.
The 2024-2025 school year will mark my 22nd year of teaching. Of those, eleven years were spent teaching 1st grade and six years teaching 3rd grade. This is my 5th year as an EIP teacher and I have to admit that I have found the area that I am most passionate about. This job comes with many challenges but it is so rewarding!
I graduated cum laude from Georgia Southwestern State University with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 2003. I received my masters degree in Elementary Reading from Walden University. I recently obtained my dyslexia endorsement which has truly armed me with so many strategies to better support my students. Through my years as an educator, I have spent time in New York training with Teachers College at Columbia University as well as attending many reading and writing summer institutes. I have also completed the Houston County Teacher Academy and I served as the Houston County district teacher of the year for 2023-2024.
I have been happily married to my husband Doug for the past 27 years and we have two beautiful children (Gabby & Finn) that keep me on the go!
I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.
